I am worried about this oil fix because every year Kampin’ we do our own version of a ‘Top Kill’. We eat white gravy until our ‘system’ is all clogged up. The issue is how long this lasts and what happens later. Eventually the clog breaks and trust me wildlife and all in the vicinity are impacted.

Everyone is Mullet Crazy!
A year ago when I decided that I would grow the first Kampin’ mullet I thought it might be a big deal but it has really turned out to be huge.
I guess Hollywood and others have gotten wind of my plans and, wow, the mullet craze is exploding:

There is one guy who I used to idolize who seems to be bucking the trend. Even though I think he is a Jack ass for cutting it I have to give him credit for sporting it for as many years as he has!

I will get my ‘mop’ cut into a mullet just before Kampin’ and I will be sure to post pictures!
Return of the Exotic Meat…
…and I do not mean Lance. What I mean is, this morning I found a dead bird in the driveway and I acted quickly and bagged it and threw it in the freezer so we can cook it up Kampin’. Even more reason to be on first shift cause this treat will not last long!!

1st Shift Map and Plans
Here are the details for the first shift:
We will depart at 2am on Tuesday the 8th. This should get us to the Norske Nooke at about 7am. Tom will split off there and head to Hayward to get the pontoon. We are hoping to be at the park by 1pm that afternoon, with Tom close behind.

Early Weather Reports
Early weather reports show cooler weather and some rain for the first day (for the first shift). I do like a fresh cup of rain water coffee!

How to get the 4th OKK
I am not the one who will decided this. It is up to Mike the creator of the greatest kampin’ knife of all time but here are my top 3 tips for having a chance at it.
- There is one open seat left in the 1st shift car and going first shift certainly will not hurt your chances.
- Bring back the exotic meat – read this report : http://www.nps.gov/voya/parknews/bald-eagle-nesting-areas-protected-in-voyageurs-national-park.htm - mmm I would like me some bald eagle!
- Make sweet love to Mike.
I am not saying that any or even all of these will get you the coveted 4th OKK but they sure will not hurt, well except for #3…

Meet my newest Facebook Friend….
And possibly a replacement for Derek if he doesn’t get his shit together. His name is Salvatore, and could be a long lost relative from Brindisi Italy.
It appears that Salvatore is a member of the Italian Army, so he has Kampin’ in his blood. He has quite a few lady friends (known as Eyetalian Birds) in the Facebook, is a bad ass like Chuck Norris (as Lance pointed out), might be a long lost relative, and best of all doesn’t have any excuses about going Kampin’. That makes him a prime contender for the 4th Official Kampin’ Knife. I think the official Kampin’ invite will go out to Salvatore next week.

Key Ingredient in New Deet…
I was looking for some new Deet and I found this brand and after careful review I found something special…
This may be the ‘King’ of bug spray.

A lot of people ask me what do I mean when I say Kampin’ with a ‘k’. I was going to describe it but then I decided that pictures and videos would be better…
